21-23 Queens Road, Mount Pleasant, Melville, Perth, WA
JBento is a hidden gem hiding away from Victoria Park, all the way to Melville. And now, it is locating at the corner of a quiet street. This small Japanese restaurant has a beautifully modern design, with a few wooden square tables, small cashier and an open kitchen. Services are nice but what I love it the most is the hot matcha available at all time in the self-service area. In this way, matcha lover (like me) can drink it as much as I can without charging money haha. Foods are in reasonable prices anyways.
(1) Mizu Shingen Mochi:
this so-called “raindrop cake” is definitely not a cake, but a jelly-like texture with strong brown sugar and soya flavour. By this way, this “drop of water” is actually as big as my hand only haha. One more tip: not to choke when you have this “droplet” with soya powder.
(2) Karaage Wings Bento:
The wings smelled as good as it tasted. The perfectly seasoned wings were so crispy on the outside, hot and juicy inside. With the toppings on top of the onigiri (rice), the whole bento was so nice.
(3) Scotch fillet beef don:
The beef was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Their teriyaki sauce tasted slightly different from those you used to eat as JBento made their own teriyaki sauce. And I would definitely say YES to their sauce rather than other restaurants. Yet, the portion of this don was a bit imbalance, the rice was relatively less. It would be great if they served more rice as it was so yummy to eat with sauce.
